Are you longing to cruise to the British Virgin Islands? Now you can, as of December 1, 2020 when the Territory’s borders will re-open to visitors after months of being shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Andrew A. Fahie, Premier and Minister of Finance, the government is optimistic and is vigorously preparing to welcome back tourists and others. “We as a people must get it right and we must get it done by all working together, both the Government and private sector,” he said.
To reduce or eliminate any possible spread of the virus, residents and visitors are expected to wear masks, social distance, wash hands frequently, and sanitize appropriately so all businesses can operate successfully.
This is the final phase of the re-entry process for the British Virgin Islands. In June they began re-entry of naturalized citizens and permanent residents. In September they allowed re-entry of work-permit holders, students, teachers, medical staff, retirees, homeowners, maritime crews, aviation crews, and others.
Among dozens of smaller islands, the four largest of the British Virgin Islands include Tortola, Anegada, Virgin Gorda, and Jost Van Dyke. While there you can enjoy a full range of water sports, island hopping, sandy beaches, hiking, beautiful views, and Caribbean culture.
