Construction
Garlington Landeweer Yachts are built with cored composites of glass, Kevlar and carbon fiber. The advantages of cored hulls are by now well known. Cored hulls are stiffer and perform better in heavy seas. They are insulated, therefore more quiet and comfortable. Cored hulls get more performance from smaller engines and can carry higher payloads. Garlington Landeweer uses Corecell in their hulls. Why Corecell…because it has superior impact resistance, and it is, quite simply, the “toughest” of all cores. It forms the strongest bonds with fiberglass skins.
In the marine industry, there is a test used to determine the strength of hull material. In this test the largest unsupported panel in the hull is test for flex, impact resistance and strength. A three to one ratio is considered excellent within the industry and very few builders have achieved strengths of four to one or greater. An independent lab rated the Corecell cored hull of the of the Garlington Landeweer 44’ XPS at six to one, making it one of the toughest sport fishing hulls on the water today. The topsides and hull on the Garlington Landeweer yachts are sleek and seamless. The seamless topside construction of the Garlington Landeweer line actually makes for a low maintenance exterior. Ease of maintenance was one of the chief qualities that Garlington Landeweer strives for in each and every yacht. Low maintenance is not only selecting quality finishes and fabrics but also building ships systems from the ground up with superior components in the simplest most reliable way possible. Using hardware and mechanical equipment that is least likely to fail or cause problems in years to come.
